New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristina McMorris will be the featured guest at the USC Beaufort Author Luncheon Series with her remarkable new work of historical fiction set during the Great Depression, Sold on a Monday (Sourcebooks Landmark, September 2018).

Lowcountry Weekly is pleased to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Sea Island Spirit Writers Short Story Contest. Participation, like last year, was wonderful! The writers were asked to respond to the prompt “a half-eaten pastrami sandwich” in 750 words or less. There were so many great stories, we’re glad the Sea Island Spirit Writers did the judging so we didn't have to! Those judges were: Donna Armer, Katherine Tandy Brown, Emily Davis Fletcher, Ginny Hall-Apicella, and Jacqueline Markham. The third annual Pat Conroy Literary Festival will be held in Conroy’s beloved Beaufort, South Carolina, this November 1–4. Presented in partnership between the nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center and the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Center for the Arts, this year’s festival will address a trio of foundations central to Conroy’s writing life, and indeed to all of southern literature and culture: Faith, Family & Friendship.
