Local high school students exhibit artwork at SoBA gallery
Artwork from more than 50 Bluffton and May River high school students will be on display through February 1 at The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) gallery in Old Town Bluffton. An opening reception is slated from 5-7 p.m. January 10 at the gallery. These events are free and open to the public.
“This and That: the Art of Arla Crumlick Wible” opens at the Beaufort Art Association (BAA) January 5, and will run until March 1, 2020. An opening reception will be held at the Gallery at 913 Bay Street in Beaufort on Friday, January 10, from 5 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served. There will also be on exhibit the work of over 75 other local artists, who are members of the Gallery. The public is invited.
Anything Goes!, an exhibit of member art at Art League Gallery, celebrates the depth and breadth of artwork created by Art League exhibiting members. Truly anything goes at this exhibit: any media, size, shape, form or subject. From 2D media such as painting and photography to 3D art including sculpture, ceramics and jewelry, all artworks will be on display and for sale.
As a gift to the community, First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort will present a weekend-long 9thAnnual Nativity Display Celebration on December 13-15 – featuring more than 100 different nativity scenes from around the world.
“These are truly one-of-a-kind pieces of art from across the globe,” said Donna Sheetz, First Presbyterian’s Volunteer Nativity Event Coordinator. “They are all telling the same story of Jesus’ birth, but each scene showcases the rich culture of the people who created it.”
Atelier is a working collective art studio, located in the historic Lipsitz building in the heart of downtown Beaufort, South Carolina. Built in 1883, this gorgeous building, with the original hardwood floors and high ceilings, houses 14 individual art studios of local Lowcountry artists. On any given day, you can climb the original staircase to Atelier and witness any number of the artists at work. With the historic charm, slightly slanted floors, natural light and gorgeous artwork covering the walls, Atelier is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
Over 90 local artists’ works are featured at the Beaufort Art Association’s All Member Show that runs at the BAA Gallery at 913 Bay Street in Beaufort now through Jan. 5. This show features over 700 pieces of artwork including one-of-a-kind, original oil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic paintings, photography, jewelry, prints and notecards.
